1. Who we are
FuelePal is developed by What a Nice Idea ("we", "us", "our"), an independent software studio. This policy explains what information the app handles and the choices you have. For privacy questions, contact privacy@whataniceidea.com.
For the EU GDPR and Greek data-protection law, What a Nice Idea is the data controller for the limited processing described here.
2. Local-first design
FuelePal is local-first. Your vehicles, fill-ups, and cost history are stored in a database on your device and, by default, never leave it. The app works offline and does not require you to create an account.
3. What data we process
| Category | Examples | Where it lives |
|---|---|---|
| Vehicle details | Vehicle name, fuel type, and settings you enter | On your device |
| Fill-up records | Odometer, litres/units, price, cost, date, notes | On your device |
| Derived statistics | Consumption (e.g. L/100km), cost trends | Computed on your device |
| Location (optional, planned) | Approximate location for finding nearby stations, if you enable it | On your device; a coarse location may be sent to a price/station lookup if that feature is used |
We do not collect your name, email, or any account identifier, because the app has no account. We do not profile you or track you across other apps.
4. Location & fuel prices
A planned feature will show nearby fuel stations and their prices. If and when you use it:
- The app will ask for location permission. Location is used to find stations near you.
- To return local prices, an approximate location or area may be sent to a fuel-price/station data source. We will send as little as needed and will not attach your identity to the request.
- This feature is optional. If you never enable it, FuelePal does not use your location, and your fuel log remains entirely on-device.
We'll update this section with the specific data providers involved once the feature is finalised.
5. Device permissions
| Permission | Why |
|---|---|
| Location (optional) | Only for the nearby-stations / fuel-price feature, if you choose to use it. |
| Photos / storage (optional) | Only if you export your data or attach an image to a record. |
6. Third-party services
- Fuel-price / station data sources (planned) — queried only if you use the nearby-stations feature. To be documented here when the feature ships.
- Your app store (Apple App Store / Google Play, or the platform you installed from) — distributes the app under its own privacy policy.
No advertising SDKs and no profiling analytics are integrated.
7. Legal basis
- Consent: for the optional location permission and the nearby-stations feature.
- Your fuel log stays on your device, so most processing does not involve us as a controller.
8. Retention & deletion
Your data stays on your device until you delete it or uninstall the app. There is no server-side copy of your fuel log for us to retain. Any location lookups for the planned price feature are transient.
9. Your rights
Under the GDPR you have rights to access, correct, delete, export, restrict, and object. Because your data is held locally, you exercise these directly in the app. For any request involving us, contact us. You may also complain to your supervisory authority — in Greece, the Hellenic Data Protection Authority (HDPA).
10. Security
Your data is protected by your device's own security. Any network requests (for the planned price feature) are made over HTTPS/TLS. We hold no account credentials because there are no accounts.
11. Children
FuelePal is a general-audience utility and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
12. Changes to this policy
We'll update this policy as the app evolves — especially when the location-based features launch — and revise the "last updated" date.
